APPLICATION GUIDELINES
SSNYC is accepting applications for independent workshop proposals! We provide the studio space, high-quality equipment, and promotional reach—you bring your unique expertise, manage your own business, and keep your student earnings.
How It Works
Instructors pay a flat fee to rent studio space and function as independent operators.
*Please note that we are not currently accepting wheel throwing workshop proposals.
What SSNYC Provides (Studio Obligations)
Marketing Support: Promotion on SSNYC social media and a dedicated listing on our website linking directly to your portfolio and contact email.
Student Studio Access: Free entry to Open Studio hours for your enrolled students (Monday–Saturday, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM).
Supplies & Tools: Full access to basic studio tools, buckets, and house Cone 6 glazes.
Kiln Services: SSNYC staff handles all loading, firing, and unloading. Bisque and Cone 6 firing is billed at a flat rate of $0.07 per cubic inch.
What You Manage (Instructor Obligations)
Administration: Handling all customer service, student scheduling, emails, and direct payment processing.
Studio Maintenance: Enforcing general studio safety rules and processing your class's clay recycling if necessary.
Compliance: Submitting a detailed class description, syllabus, and structural policies for studio review prior to launch.
Syllabus & Description: A breakdown of your class structure, techniques taught, and structural policies.
Duration: Exact number of days or weeks required for the workshop.
Requested Time Slot: Specify your preferred dates:
Available slots for evenings: Monday to Sunday, 6:30 PM – 10:00 PM.
Available slots from July to September 2027 : Thursday to Sunday, 11:00AM – 5:00 PM.
Class Capacity: Total number of students you intend to cap the roster at.
Storage Requirements: Estimate the total shelf footprint your students will need for works-in-progress. (Example: One dedicated shelf unit measuring 45"H x 35"W x 18"D).
