APPLICATION GUIDELINES

Propose a Workshop or Class

SSNYC is accepting proposals from independent instructors interested in teaching workshops and classes at our Long Island City studio.

We provide the studio space, high-quality equipment, and promotional support. You bring your expertise, manage your class, and keep your student earnings.

**SSNYC-CCA is not accepting proposals for wheel-throwing*

How It Works

Instructors operate independently and pay a flat fee to rent studio space for their class or workshop. Instructors are responsible for registration, communication with students, and collecting student payments.

SSNYC provides access to the studio, equipment, basic tools, house Cone 6 glazes, firing services, and promotional support.

What SSNYC Provides (Studio Obligations)

Marketing Support: Promotion on SSNYC social media and a dedicated listing on our website linking directly to your portfolio and contact email.
Student Studio Access: Free entry to Open Studio hours for your enrolled students (Monday–Saturday, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM).
Supplies & Tools: Full access to basic studio tools, buckets, and house Cone 6 glazes.
Kiln Services: SSNYC staff handles all loading, firing, and unloading. Bisque and Cone 6 firing is billed at a flat rate of $0.07 per cubic inch.

Instructor Responsibilities

As an independent instructor, you are responsible for:

Managing registration, scheduling, student communication, customer service, and payment processing.
Providing SSNYC with an approved course description, syllabus, schedule, and class policies before launch.
Following and enforcing SSNYC studio and safety policies.
Managing clay recycling associated with your class, when necessary.
Clearly communicating material, equipment, firing, storage, and studio-access requirements in advance.

Weekly Evening Classes
Monday–Sunday
6:30 PM–10:00 PM

Summer Workshops — July through September 2027
Thursday–Sunday
11:00 AM–5:00 PM

Proposed dates are subject to studio availability and approval.
